POINTILLISM

Was a pictorial style that emerged in France 1884 from post-impressionism.

It is a technique that consist of applying on the canvas-instead of strokes or brushstorkes-small dots of primary colours that combined and watched from in the retina the image and the chromatism disired by the artist.
Pointillists used nature as their motif, but with a more scientifc rigor since they considered that there are harmonic physical conecctions between colors.
The main promoter and representive of pictoral pointillism was the French painter Georges Seurat (1859-1891), who in 1884 founded the Société des Artistes Indépendants.
And the most popular artist  of the pointillism was Vicent Van Ghog.
